I really appreciate the information I’ve learned on this discussion board, and the information I got from Al Frasca’s Springfield.45-70 books. Dick Hosmer, and several others advice and council has been very helpful as well.
What started last year with just one M1884 has grown to a nice stable of historical US Military used rifles with correct Stocks, as issued metal parts & cleaning rods, and bayonets.
I focused on trapdoor rifles that could’ve been used by the Marine Corps, that’s why no Carbines.

Re: Springfield Trapdoor Collection has Grown
A nice collection!
While none of those have any proven history of USMC usage, M1884 serial number 434153 is listed in SRS as used by CO M 3RD TEXAS VOL INF in 1898! Congratulations!
The 3rd Texas Volunteer Infantry did not see service outside the U.S., but instead ended up manning coastal fortifications.
